September 7-September 10 :) Or something like that :)

I can't remember for sure what days each of these things were done... I'm getting really bad at this whole keeping up on the blog thing.. I think it's because a lot of the things we do don't really look like a whole lot so I figure they aren't picture worthy :) But I believe these things happened between September 7 and September 10 :)

Todd built some closets so that we could actually start putting more things away :) I think they turned out great! He made really good use of the limited space the closets had and made them look really clean and nice :) Go him! :)

These are pictures of the bedroom closet, the shelves and hanger rods ( I don't know what they are called so that's what I'm going to call them) are on both sides when you walk in the front of the closet :) I think it looks way nice and it makes it easy to see all of the clothes :)

You're probably wondering what in the world this is a picture of..but everyone who knows me knows this is our bug/flightless fruit fly closet for the frogs :) Todd cut the wood so that it would have the nice U shape to it and make it easy to access everything in the under the stairs weirdly deep closet :) it looks awesome, especially for a bug closet :)

My mom and dad came up on Saturday the 10th and helped us get some of the painting done! Now all that we have left are the two bathrooms, the office, and a lot of the trim :) we're getting there haha

We painted (ok my dad painted) the upstairs second bedroom blue, the same color as the two front main rooms, it looks really nice!

We also painted the kitchen! and while my dad was up painting the blue bedroom my mom and I were working on the trim and Todd was finishing up the shelves :) Then my dad came down and we got the kitchen painted, I am way happy with the way the color looks. The color in this room is Olivewood and I was a little nervous because it's darker than the other colors we've been using but I LOVE it, especially with the old white trim! Once I get the cabinets painted and antiqued and we get the floor tiled I think it will be one amazing kitchen! :) It's hard to get a good picture of it because it looks different in every light..but you'll get the jest of it and if no you'll just have to come visit some time to see it in person :)

I will take some more pictures and get them up by the end of this week :) Pictures of trim and a slightly more organized house *very slight* are to come!

End of August- Beginning of September

So August 29-30 we cleaned up the house, pulled nails in the old trim we are re-using and started packing things up in our own home :) I'm sure there were other little things we did here and there...but I have no photos for those days so apparently they weren't very significant :)

WEDNESDAY, August 31 ...to THURSDAY, September 1 our windows were installed! We kept all of the old ones and I have a few crafty projects in mind for a couple of them...Also we will be using the leaded glass from the front two windows in some wooden doors that we are having made, and Todd is going to use some of the old glass from some of the windows in the doors for the entertainment center he is building :) It's sad to see the neat old windows go..but it makes the house SO much quieter and our heating bill will look MUCH better :)

I didn't take pictures of every window :) but they are amazingly clear, when the were first put in I felt like there wasn't anything there! :)

FRIDAY, September 2 I ended up working until about 8:30pm so we weren't able to get a whole lot done ...Todd did a few odds and ends here and there to get the house ready to move into :)

SATURDAY, September 3 HAPPY ONE MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF CLOSING ON THE HOUSE! it is kind of hard to believe this has all happened in a month...but then my body convinces me it has :) it's been very tiring and we are far from finished but it is a great accomplishment! And we will have an awesome house as a reward for all of our hard work :) So on our one month anniversary..we moved into the house! We moved into the house from SATURDAY-SUNDAY-MONDAY by Monday we finally had everything moved in...and our old apartment cleaned..I guess a three day move is what we get for owning Tropical Ecos.. :)

So the house went from being so nice and clean to.....

A messy front room...
A messy kitchen...
An ugly bathroom... :)

The most organized room in the whole house.. aka the frog room :) and it's even super messy...
A messy office...with a crazy husband in it :) the first picture I took he closed his eyes..so when I asked him to open them for the next picture I got this .. ;)
A somewhat messy spare bedroom...
An EXTREMELY messy and unorganized bedroom... it's driving me insane...
For the next couple days I am going to be trying to organize and put away things .. so hopefully the next pictures I post look much better than these ones :) otherwise I will have gone crazy and become very lazy..

August 23-August 28 or something like that :)

Well I fell WAY behind.. so I'm not positive of the days each of these things happened but I will do my best to remember :)

TUESDAY 8/23, the sheetrock was mostly finished except for a little bit of sanding and clean up so here are pictures of the texture on all of the walls and finished (mostly) sheetrock! We also had the sheetrock dude texture the ceilings in all of the rooms :) just in case you are wondering why there are pictures of ceilings...

Front two rooms:

Kitchen and office ceilings :)

Stairway from the top down and the bottom up :)

A really terrible picture of the 2nd bedroom upstairs.. and it's textured ceiling :)

Upstairs bathroom:

Upstairs front bedroom:

WEDNESDAY 8/24: While the sheetrock guy was finishing up on Wednesday we used (an actually good sander) and got all of the floors sanded and covered with paper. Once we finished on Wednesday afternoon we started painting...since the carpet was coming on Thursday we thought it would be good to get those areas painted... and after painting from about 3 PM until 1 AM... we were far from finished.. but we got a good start at least. All of the ceilings in the carpeted rooms were primed and painted and the walls in the front bedroom, hallway, and stairway were painted. (looking at it now...we will definitely be doing a lot of touch up work haha)

SANDING:

The poor floors had been re-finished incorrectly one too many times..so there was no way to sand them down to nice clean wood, so we decided to embrace the distressed look :) I mean come on..it's almost 100 years old..

Todd sanding the frog room :)

The front rooms:

Close ups of the floors :)

AND PAINTING :)

The color we painted on the walls in the upstairs bedroom, hallway, and stairway is called Dapper Tan :) and the ceilings are white :)

Upstairs bedroom:

Hallway and Stairway and Office Ceiling :)

Then on THURSDAY 8/25, the carpet was installed! It made the house smell new and feel a lot more comfortable! This is when the house finally started looking more like it was going to be our home :)
Office & Stairway
Hallway, 2nd bedroom, and front bedroom (upstairs)

FRIDAY 8/26, we started painting the frog room as well as the front two rooms, we had some friends come help so it seemed to go by much faster than the previous painting experience with just the two of us :)

The frog room we painted Soft Sage (a nice green)

The front two rooms we painted Quiet Rain (a nice blue)

SATURDAY 8/27, Todd's dad installed some lights as we finished up painting, we had to do a second coat in the rooms and we painted the trim in the frog room (I didn't take pictures of that...) and then we cleaned stained the floors with a light cherry wood stain, it turned out great and really blended all the distressed and not as distressed areas together.

Lights: (he put up more than these but for some reason these are the ones I have pictures of..)

Stained floors:

Saturday 8/27 - Sunday 8/28
After we finished staining the floors...at around 11 pm I believe we waited for an hour so that it could dry ...and then went back and put the first layer of polyurethane on the floors, waited an hour..went and put another coat of polyurethane (and found that someone had stolen a ladder off our front porch...that was not fun I mean honestly it was 2AM) then after that layer we decided we really couldn't stay up and get all of the layers on so we woke up Sunday morning and did another and then Todd skipped out on part of church and did the last layer. And 4 layers of polyurethane later...... we have....

A beautiful frog room:

& beautiful front rooms :)
