Doors and Cupboards! November 10 - November 21

Well I feel like I've been a little more productive in the last week and a half.. :) so I took LOTS of pictures. The weekend of Veterans day I took that Friday off and went down to my parents house on Thursday the 10th of November.. and I spent all weekend down there painting all of my cupboard doors and drawer fronts. I took them all off and loaded them up in the car ..since we don't have a nice warm garage to work in :) While I was down there Todd also got some of the doors fixed up, painted, and hung. So we'll start with those pics :)

Here are our BEAUTIFUL doors!

This one is to a closet in the frog room

this one is between the kitchen and the frog room :)

Kitchen Cupboard Makeover!!!

Now for my fun project... I took all of the doors and drawer fronts off of the cupboards in the
kitchen so that I could take them down to my parents and "antique" them. My sister-in-law Jodi did it to her kitchen cabinets and I've always loved them so I decided they would look good in my kitchen...and I must say THEY DO:) So enjoy all of the pictures!

Of course I forgot to take a "Before" picture but I found this one and it shows the cabinets pretty well
Now here was our kitchen without drawers or drawer fronts
My mom has some other pictures from when I was working down there but I keep forgetting to get them...so here are some of the ones I took with my phone.

Here is Jodi and her beautiful get-up for working on the cupboards:)

My parents were awesome helpers as well! :)
So we had to prime the cupboards, paint them white, sand edges, apply stain (and wipe until the color I wanted) and then put a coat of polyurethane on it. It was definitely a process but they turned out neat :) here are a couple of drawer fronts and you can see the one on the left has been stained and the one on the right is the white that they were before the stain.
Finally finished...LOTS and LOTS of cupboards...I was excited when we were done..even though I still had everything that was still hooked to the walls in our kitchen.. :)
So I was doing a good job of taking pictures..and so here are the pictures of all of the cupboards with the primer coat. And then of course I forgot to take pictures of them all white..but at least I remembered pictures of the final product :)

So here are the pictures of it all primed.
Now just picture them all white...
Ok now that you've pictured that.. haha now you can see all of the cupboards "antiqued" and there are a couple of doors up.
And FINALLY ... The FINISHED product!!!!!

End of October - Middle of November

Well I once again fell behind...but at least I'm posting now! :) Well this month we've been working on a lot of finishing touches, we had a couple of firsts in our new home.. we had our first fire in our wood burning stove, and we had our first party at our house! It's been a fun month and we are getting excited for the holidays.

BUT we'll start from the beginning ... we are working (always) on getting the old trim sanded, painted and put up. The hard part about putting the old trim up is the fact that the sheet rock is much thinner than the lathe and plaster was so we've had to cut thin pieces of wood to make up the difference..needless to say the extra effort that requires has slowed us down a bit. But Todd did start getting some of the trim up so I took some pics. See below :)

The first pic has trim along the bottom of the wall (kinda hard to see with the mess..we had a show in Vegas just before or after this...I can't remember but thus the tanks...) I think you can see the trim in the other pictures.

We also got the upstairs bathroom painted :)

We also got some doors made for the bathroom and the second bedroom upstairs, we tried to get them made so that they would look like the other doors we have in the house... they still need painting but it's kinda fun having doors!

We've decided to move a few of the boxes we won't get to for a little while into our spare bedroom rather than having them in the front of our house...we were able to clean up the house a lot when we decided to do that :) And I don't think it looks like too much crap piled up in the spare bedroom.. :)

We were able to clean up the front two rooms A LOT and it has made it feel much more like a real home :)
Before I put the picture of the other side of the front room I have to explain a little :) ..I came home from work one day to a NEW RUG (one I've had my eye on for awhile) and with an ADORABLE NOTE from the HUBBY :) so of course I took a picture haha...
Todd even cleaned the OUTSIDE of our house :) he cleaned off the roof and trimmed some trees :)

Here's the picture of our very first fire in our awesome wood burning stove :) we LOVE it!
NOW for pictures of our very FIRST PARTY! It was a HALLOWEEN party of course :) it was lots of fun ...at least I had fun :) We ate dinner, carved pumpkins, ate WAY too many delicious treats and watched the wonderful movie "So I Married an Axe Murderer" :) It was a good time with great friends!

This is my attempt at decorations...thank goodness my Aunt Jamie has skills in making table runners for all holidays..they are pretty much my only consistent decoration :) ...and of course my sweet cookies...I had a bright idea of making homemade oreos into spiders ..they didn't really look like I'd imagined but they did taste good :)
We dressed up as cowboys and indians for real Halloween..I was hoping we would get a bunch of trick-or-treaters..but we only had about 2 ... :) oh well we still had a good time.
