FINALLY!!!

Well after a long drawn out mortgage/closing process we finally received keys to our new home today! I took pictures of every room before we started any demolition so that you can all see each picture along the way. Attached are the "before" pictures. After I took these we started demo and I will take pictures of that tomorrow.

Picture 1 - the front of our lovely home with one of the proud new owners
We will be sanding and re-painting the wood exterior, but this probably won't happen until next summer.


Picture 2-4 the front entry of ourhouse, it is basically 2 giant rooms.

In these rooms we will be:
1. Taking down all of the lathe and plaster and putting up sheetrock
2. Painting the walls a blueish or greenish light color we haven't picked one out yet
3. We will be sanding and re-finishing the hardwood floors
4. Re-wiring and putting up new lights
5. Getting windows replaced - these are the original windows from 1913
6. And decorating eventually :)


Picture 5 - bedroom#1 or what we like to refer to as the Frog Room :) it's just to the side of the kitchen and behind the giant front rooms ( the kitchen is on the right, frog room on left)

In the frog room we will be:
1. Sanding and re-finishing the hardwood floors.
2. Re-painting
3. Getting the window replaced

Picture 6 - what will be our office area/sewing room it's behind the frog room and next to the stairs.

In this room we will be:
1. Getting carpet put in
2. Getting window replaced
3. Re-painting
4. Replacing light fixture

Picture 7-8 - Kitchen

In the kitchen we will be:
1. Tiling the floor
2. Painting the cupboards, antique style
3. Getting a fridge
4. Putting a dishwasher in the island area
5. Re-painting
6. Replacing light fixtures


Picture 8-9 Bathroom

In the bathroom we will be:
1. Tiling the floor
2. Replacing the tub and shower
3. Putting up a bigger mirror above the sink
4. Replacing all windows
5. Installing a fan


Picture 10-11 Stairs and Stairwell

In the stairs we will be:
1. Carpeting all of them
2. Painting the walls


Picture 12-13 - upstairs room #1
In this room we will be:
1. Carpeting
2. Painting
3. Getting rid of the hideous blinds :)
4. Replacing the windows

Picture 14-16 - upstairs room #2

In this room we will be:
1. Tearing down all of the lathe and plaster and replacing it with sheetrock
2. Carpeting
3. Painting
4. Putting in new lights
5. Re-doing the closet
6. Replacing the windows


Pictures 17-19 - the lovely hand dug basement... :) don't worry the furnace and water heater will be replaced :)

In the basement we will be:
1. Tearing down the lathe and plaster on the stairwell and ceiling and replacing it with sheet rock
2. Replacing water heater
3. Replacing furnace and putting in A/C
4. Cleaning up ceiling
5. Painting

We will be re-landscaping but I haven't even put thought into that ;)

Well I will upload some pictures of the demo tomorrow hopefully :) If I'm not too exhausted:)

  1. Woo hoo! Congratulations! I'm excited to see the changes. Will you keep a one bathroom home or are you going to add another? I think you should have an individual post for each area and talk about what you are are going to do with those areas. I can't wait to see it.....someday :)
